Calculators

If it can be calculated, we can design a calculator for it! Most calculators are written in Javascript. With a Javascript calculator, the results come back instantly without having to reload the page. Visitors like this kind of quick, responsive behaviour and enjoy being able to interact with your website. Often, it is a useful calculator that keeps them coming back!

12 Step Development Process

We follow a well planned 12 step development process to insure that your finished website is completed on time, on budget and on target. These 12 steps are divided into three phases: Discovery, Design and Implementation.

Discovery Phase: There are four steps in the Discovery Phase to make sure that all the objectives you and your company have for the website are clearly defined. These four steps include:

  1. Preliminary Design Objectives - leadingedgeinternet.com has developed a Website Design Wizard to focus our attention on the preliminary design issues. During this step we gather all the information we need to properly evaluate your project and determine the resources you and dbCentric Technologies will need to bring forth to create the initial design specification. As a result of this step, we will be able to offer a preliminary cost estimate and approximate timeline for the fulfillment of your project. There is no charge for this phase of the project.
  2. Initial Needs Meeting - Once your preliminary design objectives have been created, we are in a position to have an initial meeting to discuss the specific needs of your project. At this meeting all of your key decision makers must be present. We will discuss your target audience, how they will be accessing your site, what browsers should be supported, any technological concerns, prohibitions with regard to cookies, java script, java applets, etc. We will identify all the resources needed to fulfill your objectives. There is a charge based on our hourly rate for this step.
  3. Preliminary Prototype Meeting - We will prepare a skeletal mini-application that shows you what each page on your new site will do on a page-by-page basis. You will see all the possible links each page has and how each page interacts with the whole site. There are no graphics on these pages, but rather a comprehensive text outline in clickable, linked page format that is designed to give you a much better feeling for your finished site than simply a written set of specifications. There is a charge based on our hourly rate for this step.
  4. Project Decision Meeting - After you and your key decision makers have had the time to fully review the preliminary prototype and we have discussed any changes you would like, we will schedule a Project Decision Meeting where we will present to you a comprehensive proposal on what it will take to complete the Design Phase. If we agree, the Design Phase begins. There is no charge for this meeting.

Design Phase: This phase has two steps

  1. Look and Feel - This is a decision making step that determines the look and feel for your site. During this step we will decide on the graphics and layout that will be used on the main pages of the site as well as one or two additional layouts for interior pages and/or specialized purposes. Also we will decide on the navigation system to be used, and the placement of the navigation links on the pages. There is an hourly charge for this step.
  2. Final Prototype - During this step we will assemble a fully clickable prototype of your site exactly as it will appear in the finished product. All the graphics, navigation and complete layout of the site will be constructed for your approval. We will stay on this step until you are completely satisfied with eveything about the site. You are free to make any changes and additions to the design at this time and we will incorporate them into the prototype so that you can see exactly what your finished site will be like. Once you have approved the final prototype, we will present a fixed price for the implementation of your project. There is an hourly charge for this step.

Implementation Phase: The final six steps are included in the Implementation Phase during which your site will be constructed and deployed on the Internet. It is during Implementation that dbCentric Technologies will be able to save your company a significant amount thanks to dbcObjects™ which greatly streamlines the process of adding functionality to your site. All work from this point will be at a fixed price which will be established during the first step of this phase.

  1. Implementation Approval Meeting - During this meeting we will present a fixed price for the Implementation Phase and obtain your approval to proceed with the construction of your site. The work will be scheduled and you will be given a precise timeline for the completion of your project.
  2. Completion Agreement - This is our agreement regarding the exact functionality that will be included in your finished site. We will agree on a staging environment for conducting acceptance testing and what the acceptance tests will be. When this step has been completed to everyone's satisfaction, we will be ready to begin construction of your site.
  3. Architectural Design - The physical design of the site on the server will be created and database work begins.
  4. Coding - Programmers will implement dbcObjects™ modules to provide all the functionality for the site. The objects will be inserted into the page containers and the site will be prepared for the Beta test.
  5. Internal Beta Test - All the tests specified in the Completion Agreement are run and the code is proved.
  6. Final Completion Test and Deployment - Once the Internal Beta Test has been successfully completed we will deploy your finished site on the Internet and make a final round of tests to insure flawless functionality.
